Within the Dartmoor National Park of over 200,000 acres, the Moorland Links Hotel is set in nine acres of award-winning gardens, with wonderful views over the Tamar Valley. Situated on the edge of the moor, close by there are many interesting places to explore such as Buckland Abbey, which was the home of Sir Francis Drake, and the bustling ancient market town of Tavistock. Plymouth is only a short distance away with its magnificent harbour, overlooked by the famous Plymouth Hoe where Sir Francis Drake allegedly played bowls.

Morwellham Quay

Buckland Abbey
Buckland Abbey is situated in its own secluded valley above the River Tavy and was originally a small but influential Cistercian monastery. The house, incorporating the remains of the 13 th -century abbey church, has rich associations with Sir Francis Drake and his seafaring rival, Sir Richard Grenville, and contains much interesting memorabilia from their time. There are exhibitions on Buckland's history as well as a magnificent monastic barn, delightfully estate walks and craft workshops. Recent additions include new interpretive exhibitions and displays, a hand-crafted plasterwork ceiling in the Drake Chamber and the creation of an Elizabethan garden. Visit Website
National Marine Aquarium
The National Marine Aquarium was the first aquarium in the United Kingdom to be set up solely for the purpose of education, conservation and research. It remains Britain 's foremost aquarium and in the six years it has been open it has attracted over two million visitors through its doors.
